Edwin Tobar

Edwin Tobar (he/him/his) is a program manager for Community Wealth at The Chicago Community Trust. 

In this role, Edwin leads conversations and grantmaking around development system innovation, neighborhood development capacity, brick-and-mortar development opportunities, and property tax sale policy. He also co-manages the Food:Land:Opportunity funding initiative with the Kinship Foundation, which focuses on strengthening the Illinois food shed system. 

Edwin is an experienced community development professional, urban planner and policy advocate. Prior to becoming a program manager, Edwin oversaw commercial development projects nationally, providing knowledge, expertise, and leadership to various interdisciplinary clients. He comes to philanthropy with over 10 years of experience working on comprehensive planning, commercial development, business operations, and community engagement. 

He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Arizona State University and holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy from DePaul University.
