Urban Market Exchange
The Urban Market Exchange, LLC (UME), is seeking a pre-development resource grant in order to assist us with several projects needed before we can start the necessary build-out of a light/flexible co-manufacturing workspace in the Woodlawn community, in an underserved community on Chicago’s Southside. The pre-development funds will go to all qualified pre-development fees such as consulting, Phase I ESA, architect fees, etc. This grant would allow UME to satisfy certain requirements needed in order to continue to apply and receive other grants and opportunities including financing. This facility will allow our clients to focus on building their business, customers-base, and exploring capital opportunities.

LISC is submitting on behalf of One Chicago for All (1Chi4All), an alliance of 28 community-driven, social impact organizations representing voices of over 1 million residents towards the goal of a Chicago that is equitable, anti-racist and builds wealth for communities of color. 1Chi4All is seeking Project Specific $150,000 funding to define a community-led role in co-creating equitable funding distribution at the City/State and secure a commitment from banks to a new comprehensive model for community-led investment. Emerging leaders from community-led organizations will lead these campaigns, building capacity towards a wider/deeper cross-community network for change, mentored by 1Chi4All Executive Directors and supported/coached by LISC.

AUSTIN COMING TOGETHER
Austin Coming Together (ACT) works with our 50+ member network and dozens of on-the-ground partners to carry out hyperlocal community-based engagement, building awareness and access to the vaccine for Austin residents. Since ACT began in 2010, we have grown to become the backbone support for Austin’s social service infrastructure, always focused on understanding community needs. We recently developed a response and recovery strategy that draws from our experience in identifying core issues and facilitating solutions through collaboration. We have operationalized a plan for advocacy, communication, resource development, and resource deployment. With this project, we will be able to expand our impact to more Austin residents.

Since 1991, Claretian Associates has remained dedicated in its mission of responding to the needs of South Chicago and surrounding communities by providing affordable housing and vital services that benefit the safety and wellbeing of residents and families. With the arrival of COVID-19 followed shortly by racial unrest, South Chicago, a community already heavy with critical needs became inundated with people needing housing, rental assistance, and food security. In response, Claretian Associates did what it does best; organized, fundraised, and met the needs of the community through a trauma-informed lens. This grant request will assist in improving the well-being of the over 5000 residents who receive services from Claretian annually.

Inspiration Corporation
Inspiration Corporation respectfully requests $60,000 over two years in renewed funding to provide support for general operations, including programming in supportive housing, meals, direct support, and homeless outreach services. Funding from the Chicago Community Trust would help ensure that Chicagoans affected by homelessness and poverty receive services they need to lead healthier, more self-sufficient lives. Funding will also support the process of establishing a new program site in Chicago’s Central Business District in partnership with Italian NGO, Food For Soul, to provide services to individuals experiencing homelessness and poverty in the Loop.
