In anticipation of Labor Day weekend and the conclusion of our three-month fatherhood peer support group hosted in partnership with READI Chicago-Englewood, FFHC plans to host a celebratory event. The celebration will honor the consistent commitment and hard work of our younger and older fathers who attended weekly peer group meetings (topics ranging from identity and purpose, barriers and dealing with stress, unresolved triggers, social support and compassion, and more). Specifically, fathers will receive FFHC gift boxes, including household essentials, personal care items, educational materials, and other critical goods for fathers. Additionally, we will distribute monetary incentives to fathers who participated in programming. With this event, FFHC hopes to gather our constituent stakeholders to provide a safe and peaceful space for community and celebration. We hope to not only further create a sense of connectedness, but to further explore conversations of relationship building and shared knowledge across generations, social and emotional skill development, and violence and trauma reduction.
