    Automotive Mentoring Group Inc

    Awarded: Awarded Amount: $5,000

    The Automotive Mentoring Group (AMG) will provide programming for the Memorial Day weekend and during the gap time between the CPS ending and the Park District beginning June 6-26. AMG will organize small car shows in neighborhood locations to showcase classic cars that were built by young people in the community. We will be working in collaboration with the Chicago Police Department CAPS and by providing plastic 1/16 model cars for young people in the community to build. These events will be located in the 7th and 8th Districts of Englewood and Ashburn Gresham.

    The Alpha Illinois Leadership Foundation has the willingness, experience, capacity (location, staff, and volunteers), and existing youth development initiatives to expand or move up to meet the Memorial Day weekend and June (rapid response) youth programs. The Alpha Illinois Leadership Foundation will expand our existing Youth Leadership Initiative named Empowering YOU to house and provide youth leadership, recreational and anti-violence activities.

    New Eclipse Community Alliance

    Awarded: Awarded Amount: $5,000

    NECA has the staff , capacity and space to provide support for children and youth during Memorial Day weekend and gap time of June 6-26. The program focuses on violence prevention through restorative justice practices, mentoring, and job readiness training framed within an innovative social emotional curriculum. This allows NECA to serve both children and youth and provide them with programming that is age-appropriate and tailored to their needs and interests. For children, NECA will be running a summer camp that focuses on violence prevention through restorative justice practices, mentoring, arts, and sports. For youth, the organization will provide job and soft skills training out-of-school programming that includes a construction pre-apprenticeship, culinary arts training, cosmetology, and urban farming training with local business owners.
