The 1000 and 1100 blocks of N Monticello Ave respectfully request a $5,000 grant to create and execute Family Fun Weekends. Family Fun Weekends consist of four separate events over the span of three weekends. On Sunday, August 6, families from the 1000 and 1100 blocks of N Monticello Ave will travel to the Museum of Science and Industry for a field trip and the day will end with a movie night in the garden. The second event will take place on Sunday, August 20 with a trip to the Brookfield Zoo. The last event will take place on Saturday, August 26 for another family fun day at the trampoline park. These events are intended to create safe activities for the youth of the 1000 and 1100 blocks of N Monticello Ave while engaging with the parents and neighbors. Our hope is that these events will create beautiful childhood memories that will not be overshadowed by the violence and gang activities that interfere with the lives of our children a daily basis.

BDM Sports & Education Project is proposing to extend its current summer activities by offering youth a safe haven and engaging activities through the Putt'n 4 Peace Youth Golf Clinic. This program, previously set to end the first weekend in August, will run on three consecutive weekends from the second weekend in August through Labor Day. The Golf Clinic will conclude with a Community Celebration to be held at Ogden Park located at 6700 South Racine in the Englewood neighborhood. Activities include entertainment, food, music, and fun for the entire family. Rather than focusing on the negativity around recent downtown Chicago teen takeovers, Putt'n 4 Peace educates, elevates, and enriches young minds at a time when more positive impressions need to be shared. The golf clinic will serve 50-100 school-aged youth from 3rd grade through high school and youth will be recruited from our typical summer program list.
