AMPT:Advancing Nonprofits supports West and South side community organizations in building organizational health and sustainability through capacity building. Programming includes the full range of organizational development support services, such as: assessments to determine organizational needs: a navigator to help nonprofits access consultants and other resources; grants to support capacity building priorities; and opportunities for training, peer learning, connection and collaboration.

Garfield Park Community Council
The Garfield Park Community Council (GPCC) requests a renewal grant for the Garfield Park Neighborhood Development Initiative, which will support increased community engagement around several catalyzing development projects in Garfield Park. GPCC will engage new and ongoing developments that are located in Opportunity Zones and along the Pulaski and Kedzie commercial corridors, make connections to the Kinzie Industrial Corridor, and engage a housing development along Fifth Avenue, designated a “Resilient Corridor” by the City of Chicago. GPCC will also build its capacity to communicate and reach residents, building local leadership in Garfield Park to engage new investments and cooperative ownership opportunities through new developments.

Lighthouse Foundation
Lighthouse Foundation is a Black Queer-led, multiracial social justice organization that advances justice for Black LGBTQ+ people across Chicagoland through empowerment, education, and entertainment. The work of Lighthouse Foundation aligns with AAL’s activism focus area as we work to hold LGBTQ+ serving institutions in Chicagoland accountable to better serve Black Queer people through the Black Queer Equity Index. Support from the African American Legacy Fund will enhance our capacity to expand the Black Queer Equity Index to survey more Chicago organizations in 2022.

AFFINITY COMMUNITY SERVICES
Affinity Community Services seeks funding through the African American Legacy Initiative to maintain and build services for Black LGBTQ+ women and gender nonconforming individuals on Chicago’s South Side. The Chicago Community Trust’s emphasis on addressing financial and health disparities of older adults of color closely aligns with our work and Affinity has become an invaluable resource for those ages 50 plus in our community. For 25 years, we have served tens of thousands through programming, support groups, HIV prevention services, and community resources, and your support is crucial to helping us continue programming that counteracts oppression and isolation and reflects both our community’s needs and possibilities.
