GTP will examine resources available to academic researchers in the Chicago-area biomedical innovation ecosystem. It will assess how well positioned those entities are to advancing individuals currently under-represented in translational research initiatives and to collaborating to build a stronger, better integrated, and more inclusive Chicago biomedical innovation ecosystem. GTP will examine the extent to which individuals in under-represented groups engage in the biomedical innovation ecosystem and the hurdles that may impede their full participation. The assessment will include both qualitative and quantitative information and will develop insights to improve the Chicago biomedical innovation ecosystem inclusivity, and collaboration.

The Pandemic Response Commons (PRC) has found its place in the intersection of data driven research and community engagement. The PRC was launched to establish a secure, regionally-distributed ecosystem for research involving COVID-19 health data In Phase 2, we aim to expand the involvement of Chicagoland communities to address their concerns and provide answers to the questions they have regarding COVID-19. These concerns, and the relevant data, change over time, as we deal with different phases of the pandemic and impacts of new variants and vaccinations. The consortium aims to engage underrepresented communities, involve trusted stakeholders, and provide practical, easy to understand deliverables back to the community.

In 2017, Dr. Ada Cheng, the storytelling artist, and the National Cambodian Heritage Museum & Killing Fields Memorial started our collaboration and introduced storytelling to the museum. During the past 4 years, we have incorporated storytelling into various program activities, including summer camp, storytelling workshops, storytelling events, storytelling circles. Our goal for this coming year is to formalize the institutionalization of storytelling at the museum. We are aiming to develop a model for the institutionalization of storytelling, which can be applied to and implemented by other museums and cultural/heritage organizations.
