The Chicago Tool Library is requesting $5,000 to support our mission of providing equitable access to tools, equipment, and information to allow all Chicagoans to learn, share, and create. In pursuit of this mission, we provide programs for: individual Chicagoans to borrow tools via sliding-scale memberships; community groups to borrow tools via low-cost memberships; free seed distribution to the community; and Repair Fairs which are community events where community members can have their broken and beloved items repaired for free. This funding will support our amazing staff who run these programs and ensure our programs are sustainable and that the Chicago Tool Library is a stable and desirable workplace.
