    Giving Others Dreams God Inc

    Awarded: Awarded Amount: $5,000

Title: Fostering Unity and Peace: Community Events Proposal Introduction: Our proposal aims to promote social cohesion, safety, and peaceful engagement among Chicago's youth during the critical period between August 6th and August 21st, as well as over the Labor Day weekend. We envision organizing a series of community events that will positively impact the lives of young people and create an environment where violence reduction can flourish. With a budget of $5,000, our grassroots organization will work diligently to ensure these activities foster a sense of belonging and provide a safe haven for the city's youth. Elevate our weekly Family Friday's Game nights. Objective: The primary goal of our proposed community events is to offer constructive and enjoyable opportunities for youth to participate in activities that build connections, encourage creativity, and promote peaceful interactions. By engaging young individuals during the gap time between the end of Chicago Park District's summer programming and the start of the Chicago Public School year, as well as during the Labor Day weekend, we aim to reduce potential risks associated with idle time and limited resources. Event Descriptions: Peace Walk and Mural Painting: We will kick off the series of events with a Peace Walk through the community, bringing together youth from different backgrounds to promote unity and solidarity. Following the walk, we will organize a Mural Painting session where local artists will collaborate with the youth to create a vibrant mural representing themes of peace and togetherness. Youth Talent Showcase: This event will celebrate the creativity and talent of young individuals in the community. We will invite youth to showcase their artistic abilities through various performances, such as singing, dancing, spoken word, and instrumental music. This Talent Showcase will encourage self-expression and empower participants. Community Sports Day: A fun-filled day of sports and games will be organized to encourage teamwork, discipline, and healthy competition. We will include both traditional and non-traditional sports to cater to diverse interests and abilities. Cultural Exchange Fair: The Cultural Exchange Fair will offer an opportunity for diverse communities within Chicago to showcase their traditions, food, and customs. This event will foster cultural understanding, appreciation, and unity among the participants. Budget Allocation: Peace Walk and Mural Painting: $1,000 Youth Talent Showcase: $1,200 Community Sports Day: $800 Cultural Exchange Fair: $1,000 Miscellaneous (Refreshments, Materials, Promotion, Staff hours ): $2,000 Conclusion: Our proposed community events, funded by the Chicago Fund for Safe and Peaceful Communities and the City of Chicago, will create a safe and positive environment for youth during the critical period between August 6th and August 21st and throughout the Labor Day weekend. By engaging the young members of our community in activities that promote social cohesion, we believe we can contribute significantly to violence reduction and create lasting connections among the youth. With a budget of $5,000, we are confident in our ability to execute these events successfully and make a meaningful impact in building a safer and more peaceful Chicago.
