Greater Auburn Gresham Development Corporation (GAGDC) is on a journey with the community to build an equitable connected neighborhood, where everyone of all ages and race are welcome and thrive. GAGDC is a comprehensive community development organization and is leading the effort to redevelop a long vacant, office building on a key commercial corridor in the Auburn Gresham community. The 839 Healthy Lifestyle Hub redevelopment project plan and mission is to bring jobs, access to healthcare, build collective power and sustain strong partnerships with neighborhood network partners while closing the racial wealth equity gap among the residents in Auburn Gresham.

Back of the Yards Neighborhood Council
The Back of the Yards Neighborhood Council is pleased to submit this request for the Catalyzing Neighborhood Investment - Build the Foundation - Flexible Funding opportunity. The fiscal resources to support our ongoing operation, especially recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, is the potential solution to problems so many non-for-profits face. Sustaining our mission and work has been made more difficult after losing our fundraising season. The needs of the community we serve are greater because of this recovery, but our resources are fewer. Our work is ongoing and the support will undoubtedly help us to achieve positive results. We will continue to strive to enhance the welfare of all our residents.

AUSTIN COMING TOGETHER
Austin Coming Together (ACT) is seeking operating funds to support its efforts to attract investment to Austin through “Austin Forward Together,” a five-year Quality of Life Plan for the Austin community area. By providing the organizational infrastructure, technical support, seed funding, and external relations, ACT is empowering local leaders and organizations to implement the 84 actions of Austin Forward Together. Over the next year, ACT staff will assist local leaders to complete the remaining action plans that are part of Austin Forward Together and aggressively pursue the private, non-profit, and public investment that is needed for their completion.

Emerald South Economic Development Collaborative
The Emerald South Economic Development Collaborative (Emerald South) works to build a growing and prosperous Black community on the mid-South Side. By focusing on local equity economic participation, Emerald South aims to expand individual and community property ownership and entrepreneurship for local residents and business owners that advances community and individual wealth and wellbeing. We seek CNI Build the Foundation grant funds to leverage various funding sources - including ICJIA’s R3 program, Chicago Prize 2022, Obama Foundation, University of Chicago, and Chicago Community Trust - to support Emerald South’s current initiatives: (1) Terra Firma vacant land care program (2) Commercial Corridor Collaborative and small business support (3) Development of a Community Investment Vehicle for the Washington Park neighborhood (4) Expanded broadband connectivity to close the digital divide on the mid-South Side

LATINOS PROGRESANDO
Latinos Progresando (LP) requests renewed support for resident-driven, equitable community development in the Marshall Square community. LP’s approach leverages the strength of the Marshall Square Resource Network and deepens relationships with local, entrepreneurial businesses to promote community economic viability and engagement in neighborhood life. Development activities are organized around a cluster of community assets: the forthcoming Latinos Progresando Community Center, a redevelopment of a long-vacant Chicago public library branch; the Cermak/California commercial corridors; and the CTA Pink Line California station. Our broader vision also includes collaboration with the neighboring communities of Pilsen and North Lawndale to develop equitable transit-oriented development opportunities along the CTA Pink Line corridor.

The Greater Englewood Chamber of Commerce is leveraging our opportunity to attract real investment capital with our plan to develop a 40,000 square feet enLabs space that intends to support BIPOC- and/or women-owned startups/SMEs to launch physical product businesses, while developing a strong manufacturing workforce development program, with partners Teamwork Englewood, Krimson Technology and mHub, in the clean energy/solar space with the expansion of our programs and the growth & diversification of our board and staff.
