Setting Priorities for the Future of Our Region

In 2005, at the urging of local elected officials and business leaders, the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) was formed to develop, and then implement, a comprehensive regional plan. Their GO TO 2040 Plan completed in 2010 makes tough choices and sets clear regional priorities to guide development and investment decisions through 2040 and beyond. The Trust provided grant support for the plan, as well as strategic expertise in shaping plan areas that influence quality of life, such as food systems, workforce development and public health.

Measuring Progress

GO TO 2040 calls for government agencies to improve access to information and become more accountable. Toward that goal, CMAP and the Trust have launched MetroPulse, a set of data indicators to chart the region’s progress in implementing GO TO 2040. Get started with MetroPulse
