The Smart Chicago Collaborative is a civic organization devoted to improving lives in Chicago through the transformative power of technology. Smart Chicago works on increasing access to the Internet, improving skills for using Internet and developing meaningful products from data that measurably contribute to the quality of life of residents in our region and beyond. Smart Chicago—a joint project of the City of Chicago, the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and the Trust—provides cross-sector leadership and resources to support the City in its transition to a culture of digital excellence. It drives innovation in Chicago by investing in infrastructure, programs and applications that make the resources of high-speed Internet more accessible, useful and beneficial to all.

In October 2017, the Smart Chicago Collaborative moved from the Trust’s offices. Smart Chicago is now co-located with the City Digital Team at UI Labs. See their website for the latest updates:
