In the wake of the worst recession to hit metropolitan Chicago since the Great Depression, the Trust launched the Unity Challenge in December 2008. Thanks to our generous donors and a match from the Trust, we gave $4 million to support agencies helping seniors, people with disabilities, domestic violence survivors, the hungry, the homeless and the jobless in 2009.
Today the need is just as great.
Unity Challenge 2010 will continue to fund services most needed in the community. When you make a donation, we will match it—doubling your support to critical nonprofit organizations meeting basic needs for everyone in our region. Food pantries, shelters, legal aid clinics, foreclosure counselors, job skills trainers, and compassionate neighbors like you: we are all fighting on the front lines of poverty together.
